The Global Studies Digital Media and Technology short course is for international students who are interested in the intersection of technology and globalization and how these two forces of the 21st century have shaped power relations, identity, communities, and creative expression.

Students in this short course will work in MSU’s Digital Scholarship Lab with experts in Global Studies and Digital Humanities, to explore cultural and ethical questions associated with the use of digital technologies. More specifically, they will study the forms of digital media, the relationship between digital technologies and society, and the formation of digital communities. Finally, students will acquire technical skills in the design of digital resources for personal, academic, community, or professional purposes. At the end of the course, students will be equipped with the technical knowledge and the practical skills to research, to analyze, and to create digital resources in our increasingly global world.
