The Indonesian Culture and Climate Change program aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the cultural, social, and environmental dynamics of Indonesia while addressing climate change challenges.
- Gain insight into Indonesian cultural practices, social structures, and local perspectives on climate change.
- Learn about the effects of climate change on Indonesian ecosystems, communities, and economies.
- Enhance your ability to work effectively across cultures, fostering intercultural sensitivity and communication skills.
This hybrid program includes three weeks of online synchronous and asynchronous meetings and a three-week on-site education abroad program in Indonesia. It fulfills experiential learning requirements and includes community service with local organizations.
- All students are required to enroll in GSAH 301 Global Citizenship (or alternatively GSAH 391 Special Topics in Global Studies)
- Students must also enroll in at least one of the following three courses:
- 1) GSAH 450 Global Interdisciplinary Studies
- Students enrolling in GSAH 450 will be required to complete additional research projects.
- 2) IAH 211B Area Studies and Multicultural Civilization: Asian and the Pacific
- 3) GSAH 490 Independent Study (1-4 credits)
Students can enroll in a minimum of 7 credits and a maximum of 8 credits.
Program Cost: $2,600 (includes housing, in-country transportation, entry fees, and most meals, does not include round-trip airfare to Jakarta or tuition)
